An eclectic taste for ormolu: mounted ceramics at Tatton Park, Cheshire.
Tatton Park, Knutsford, Cheshire, best known for its collection of furniture supplied by Gillow and Company between 1780 and 1812, also has an intriguing, varied, and little known collection of ceramics with ormolu and gilt-metal mounts. (1) Acquired between about 1824 and 1909, these objects document the Egerton family's response to this flamboyant facet in the history of taste and collecting.
