It was a case of mixed fortunes for business-class only carriers in the UAE this month as Eos Airlines, which was set to launch a premium service between Dubai and London Stansted from 6 July (BMTE March/April, page 6), filed for bankruptcy in the US, while rival Silverjet received a much-needed cash injection.
A notice on Eos' website said that the airline was terminating its services with effect from 27 April. It called the announcement "particularly regrettable" in light of the fact that it had a proposal in place for additional financing.
