I always assumed that feathers were strictly for the birds (and perhaps the occasional boa), but designers gave them free range on the runways this season. Airy plumes adorned thigh-grazing dresses for a look that was flirty but not floozy. Lanvin's strapless dress is embellished with slate-colored ostrich feathers that climb up the clavicle, making every neck a bit more swanlike. Giambattista Valli's silk dress is a voluminous burst of neon yellow feathers that are truly exotic--and just a touch cocky.
