Percussionist Evelyn Glennie gives more than 100 performances a year, performing solo, with orchestras or collaborating with other artists. Her first recording won a Grammy award, with two other subsequent recordings receiving Grammy nominations. Glennie began to lose her hearing at age 8 and was profoundly deaf by age 12, which is about the time she began to develop an interest in percussion.

Esther Fellows: How did you get your start in music?
