This turned out to be the most captivating book I've read in a long time. It is the story of a journalist who is an amateur pianist and who has, after a painstaking search, found the piano of her dreams in New York, and then has it shipped to her home in Montana. But when it arrives the sound is all wrong, painfully wrong. What happened to that transcendental sound that touched her soul? This moment of intense aural and spiritual pain leads the author on a heart-pounding odyssey dealing with masterful piano technicians, the dealer who sold her the piano (and is determined to help her), piano groupies and, finally, the company that created her singular piano.
