Imposing a price of $35 per ton of CO2 emissions would result in up to a 10% reduction in U.S. electricity-related emission levels in the short term, a recent study by Carnegie Mellon University researchers shows.
A carbon emissions price also would prompt changes in consumer behavior and power company investments.
