HP buys into records management business

HP is moving into records management with the acquisition of specialist Tower Software to help plug the compliance and corporate governance gap in its information management portfolio.
Information management for compliance is set to be big business and the big software suppliers are snapping up specialists.
Last month, information assurance managed services specialist Vistorm was bought by EDS (which is itself the subject of a $14bn deal with HP).
HP marketing director Erik Moller told IWR that HP recognised it needed better records management capabilities. "Running up to the acquisition we looked at several vendors and kept coming back to Tower as the best fit as it adds the records management piece to our portfolio," he said.
