TASHKENT,June 2 Asia Pulse - A forum attended by business investors from Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates was held on 29 May in Tashkent.
The event organized by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Economic Affairs, Investments and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates was intended to further expand trade and economic and investment cooperation between the two countries, UzA repoted.
Among the participants of the meeting were the representatives of a number of ministries and agencies, companies, and large concerns of the two countries functioning the fields of foreign economic relations, trade, oil and gas sector, banking and finance sector, construction, machine engineering, agriculture and water management, food, chemical, light and textile industries, pharmaceutics, transportation and transport communication, culture and tourism.
Speaking at the forum the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan N. Najimov, the Minister of Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates Ms. Lubna bint Haled al-Kasemi (transliterated) particularly noted that the agreements reached during the meetings of the heads of the two states served as an important legal framework for the development of cooperation between the countries in all spheres, including trade and economic relations.
During the forum, business delegates from the UAE were provided details on the priority aspects of Uzbekistan's foreign investment policy. The guests were familiarized wit the large-scale privatization process being implemented in the country, the deep reforms in the development of the national economy, and the reforms in the development of small business and private entrepreneurship.
