SYDNEY, June 2 Asia Pulse - Company gross operating profits, in current prices, rose 2.2 per cent in the March quarter, seasonally adjusted, to be up 7.0 per cent over the year, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said.
Economists were expecting gross operating profits to rise by 1.0 per cent in the quarter.
Estimated business inventories, in seasonally adjusted chain volume terms, rose 0.9 per cent in the March quarter after rising 0.8 per cent in the previous quarter.
The March quarter result was 3.6 per cent higher than a year ago.
Economists were expecting a 1.0 per cent rise in the quarter.
