SYDNEY, June 2 Asia Pulse - Macquarie Group (ASX:MQG) says it will create a new securities operation from the merger its wholesale capital securities and equity markets divisions.
The combined group - to be called Macquarie Securities - will have 1,700 employees, with 1,200 based outside of Australia.
Macquarie Securities will be jointly led by Kim Burke, formerly head of the Equity Markets Group, and Roy Laidlaw, formerly head of Macquarie Capital Securities.
A group spokesman said no staff would be cut following the merger.
