SEOUL, June 2 Asia Pulse - Beef imported from the United States is likely to hit the South Korean market as early as next week as the government is determined to resume quarantine inspections of the product, officials said Sunday.
Defying public protests over an agreement with Washington to resume imports of U.S. beef, which have been suspended for eight months, Seoul has said it will start the inspections this week.
Thousands of people have taken to the streets across the country demanding the government scrap the agreement, citing concerns over mad cow disease.
