LOS ANGELES -- At a luncheon on May 14, 2008, air-personality Lara Scott was honored to receive the President's Volunteer Service Award. The award was presented by Salem Media of Los Angeles Vice President/General Manager Terry Fahy, and legendary Contemporary Christian artist Michael W. Smith, on behalf of President George Bush.
Lara's nomination and selection came as a result of her tireless volunteer work with charities such Hope Gardens and Cans for Causes. Lara also initiated a radio feature and blog, titled "From the Heart," which highlights regular citizens performing extraordinary service to those in need.
Terry Fahy, Vice President/General Manager commented, "When we heard of this award, it took only moments to realize who was most deserving. Lara Scott has an amazing testimony and really lives her life to help others every day...on and off the air. I was thrilled to participate in her selection and present her with this once-in-a-lifetime honor."
