SIR: With regard to climate change and the IPCC, Ray Evans (March 2008) is sceptical and Chris Cuthbert (Letters, April 2008) is a believer in the IPCC report. And, indeed, those of us who are not scientists have a hard time deciding whose information to trust.
Luckily, Bjorn Lomborg, in his book Cool It: The Skeptical Environmentalist's Guide to Global Warming, draws the two points of view together from a purely practical perspective. For Lomborg--himself a believer--points out convincingly that no matter what your belief regarding climate change, the sensible policy to adopt is the same--namely to utilise resources to adapt to climate change rather than attempt to prevent it.
