INDONESIA'S ASTRATEL EYEING US$1.2 BLN POWER PROJECT OF PLN
JAKARTA - PT Astratel Nusantara is eyeing a US$1.2 billion project to build a coal-fired power plant of the state-owned electricity company PLN with a capacity of 1,200 megawatt in Central Java.
The subsidiary of PT Astra International said it will take part in a tender to be held this year after a previous tender for the project in 2006 was revoked.

KUALA LUMPUR - Genting Berhad (KLSE:3182) on Thursday posted a 29.1 per cent slump in first quarter pre-tax profit to RM853.185 million (US$266.6 million) against RM1.202 billion a year ago despite the solid performance of its plantation division.
The casino operator said the UK gaming operations under Genting International Plc (GIPLC) was affected by lower business volume, higher amount of net bad debts written off and higher gaming duties pursuant to the change in gaming duty rate from April 2007.
