In 2004, I returned to work in residential aged care following 13 years nursing and managing health services across the acute, rehabilitation and community sectors, I felt as though I had returned to the area of nursing I was "meant to be" despite the horrific funding model (RCS) and the massive challenges of providing quality care in an environment of no minimum staffing levels, chronic under funding, poor pay and working conditions.
