Having read the Have You Heard? column ("Got an Older TV? Read This") in the January 2008 issue, I have this to say: As the "champion" of the consumer you are costing me money. The $40 coupon people will get so they can watch digital TV has to be paid somehow, and the government's only source of money is the consumer and taxpayer. I am being taxed so someone with an old TV can watch it after February 2009. I don't care whether someone watches TV or not; the government should not be subsidizing someone's TV watching. You, Consumer Reports, should not champion my paying taxes so someone else can watch TV. How many other government giveaway ...
