UK truck operators are missing out on an opportunity to motivate and reward their drivers because of their negative attitude towards fuel card-based driver incentive schemes, according to a senior executive at a major fuel card company.

Speaking to T&D's Steve Banner, he said: 'Some bosses are downright hostile to the whole idea and are delighted when we tell them that we don't have a driver incentive deal in place. They don't like the idea of drivers getting something when they're not, and argue that such schemes cause resentment among depot-based staff because the latter can't benefit from them.
