Durham-based non-profit Southern Research Institute and Baltimore's ThermoChem Recovery International (TRI) jointly agreed to build a biomass gasification pilot plant at TRI's Carbon-to-Liquids (C2L) Development Center in North Carolina.

The two companies signed a five-year agreement, which covers the building and operation of the plant.
