Astrological charts, Rorschach tests, the Myers-Briggs exam--there are many ways to divine a person's hidden self. A night table can be just as revealing. We asked celebrities at Seventh on Sale, a Calvin Klein party, and the opening of a Chopard store in New York City what they keep by their beds.
Some stars are bookworms--or at least aspiring bookworms. "I've got a couple books that are covered in dust right now," says Marley Shelton. "I'm halfway through Eat, Pray, Love ." Michael Kors admits to having "50 books, but I always just read one chapter. So it's 50 books I never get to."
Parker Posey's night table might pass for a shrine. "I have a statue of Hanuman, an Indian deity," she says. Liza Minnelli's possessions are more sentimental. By her bed, she keeps "a picture of Halston, a glass butterfly that Fred Ebb gave me, and a picture of my parents and my family."
And then there are those stars whose nightstands expose a bad habit. For his part, Colin Farrell admits to having only one thing on his bedside table: "an ashtray, pathetically."
