Scher's response: Nail-polish remover strips nails of moisture, as does formaldehyde, a solvent in most polishes. Use acetone-free remover and formaldehyde-free polish. (Generally, if it says "hypoallergenic" on the label, it's formaldehyde-free.) Try to keep nails polish-free one day a week, to give them a rest.
