W e give thanks to the fashion gods that women have stopped dressing like they were headed to a taping of Romper Room. In 2008, baby dolls and the kawaii- cartoon look are passe, and we actually dress with more STRAIGHT-AHEAD ELEGANCE than we have since the 1950s--when "sexy" was the scent of cologne-pressed gloves and the swish of a stiff taffeta underskirt.
