I love going new places, but I hate flying, so comfort is everything to me. A few indulgences can make all the difference. For instance, I always pack thick, warm socks and Junior Mints for the plane, just because they make me happy.
Get organized. It took me years to find the perfect carry-on bag. It's from a line called Rimowa, and it's a small rolling suitcase that I can stuff with everything I need for a flight. I group smaller items in Ziploc bags--food goes in one, beauty stuff goes in another, and so on. When I get onto the plane, I pull out the bags I need and put everything else out of the way in the overhead compartment.
Save face. I'm completely miserable if my mouth feels stale and my skin is dried out, so I always bring a travel toothbrush and toothpaste, Amore Pacific hydrating face spray and moisturizer, and lip balm. I don't bother with much makeup, but if you just can't live without it, wear some ...
