New Waves
Calling a woman loose and easy is an insult. Say the same thing about her hair this season, and she'll thank you for the compliment. Last fall's shiny, perfect curls have been replaced with soft waves that look real and relaxed, says hairstylist Orlando Pita. For those of us who weren't born with hair that naturally ebbs and flows down the back, some styling is required to achieve this wavy texture. But the low-tech method hairstylist Eugene Souleiman devised is relatively simple -- and surprisingly fast to complete. "The idea is for people to look at you and say, 'Wow, that girl has great hair,' rather than, 'Wow, that girl has a great hairstyle,'" he says. To that end, put away your curling iron (heating tools have a tendency to make hair look overly glossy and done) and use your own two hands -- along with a blow-dryer with a diffuser and a generous amount of texturizing spray -- to create a tidal wave of beautiful, believable curls that are sure to turn heads.
