She's Real I think Allure is a survival necessity, and I pore over my copy as soon as it arrives. "The Lopez Effect" [November] demonstrates why the world fell in love with "Jenny From the Block." She is true to herself, where she comes from, and what she believes in. She is the same Jenny, just in better clothes. We have seen her blossom from a ghetto-fabulous hip-hop star to an elegant fashionista who seems to truly be happy. All of Hollywood should take a page from her book. Edita Memisi London
On the Offensive I just read David DeNicolo's interview with
Blake Lively ["Allure's Face," November], and I am shocked. What appalled me was his response to her comment about being in show choir when she was a kid. "It sounds very gay," he said. I don't think I need to go on about how out of line this is. David DeNicolo sounds more like an ignorant frat boy than a journalist for a well-respected magazine. What a shame! As a nuclear-medicine technologist, I have seen so many sad cases of lung cancer that could have been avoided. My sister-in-law has just undergone Gamma Knife surgery for treatment of tumors in her brain that have spread from her primary lung cancer. She will begin a second course of chemotherapy to address the spread to her bones. This article delivers a comprehensive look at all the issues about smoking ranging from health, money, and possible weight gain to beauty implications.
