Thirty-eight members of the 2006 Duke lacrosse team filed a lawsuit against the school, President Richard Brodhead, the city of Durham NC and a nurse at Duke University Hospital for emotional distress and other damages resulting from mishandling rape allegations against them.

An exotic dancer accused three lacrosse players of kidnapping and raping her at a team party in 2006. The case fell apart due to lack of evidence and the alleged victim's retraction of most of her story. The three players charged were exonerated last year.
