Question: Something my mother did, which I have copied in my own house, is stocking one closet almost exclusively with items I buy throughout the year for friends and loved ones in advance of their birthdays, anniversaries, and-_always _vexing-the December holidays. Over the years, however, those items have been joined by other presents, gifts given to me or received in goodie bags at benefits, unwrapped, unused, not returned.
