Douglas was with the Police Force for five years before deciding that he wanted to be his own boss. He wanted to see direct rewards for working harder and being prepared to put in extra hours.

Within three months of becoming a PCC franchisee, Douglas was coveting his costs and earning good money. 'I've been amazed at how quickly things have taken off for me,' he confirms. 'Arguably, I started off in the most difficult months of the year, with dark evenings and bad weather.
