Former Steinway president Henry Z. Steinway and guitarist-inventor Les Paul were among nine 2007 recipients of the National Medal of Arts.
President George W. Bush announced the recipients of the awards, which were presented by the President and Laura Bush in a ceremony at the White House in November. The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) manages the National Medal of Arts nomination process and notified the artists of their selection.
