The Co-operative Group is investing #8.3m in a single Electronic Point Of Sale (EPOS) system to be implemented across its expanded food store network.
The investment follows the amalgamation of the Co-operative Group and United Co-operatives in July 2007. The EPOS system will replace the six separate EPOS store systems The Co-operative Group currently operates.
The system consists of touchscreen tills with customer-facing advertising screens, a fully-integrated chip and pin system, a stock and order replenishment system generating orders that go to Co- operative warehouses and direct suppliers and wireless technology within stores for printing labels and price checking.
