One of the most influential spiritual leaders of the last half-century, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi died on February 5th at his home in the Netherlands at age 91. His obituaries all noted his association with the Beatles and Mia Farrow and his introducing Transcendental Meditation[TM] into Western culture. They failed to mention his collection of colleges and universities.
Welcome to discrimination
His first was Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, an accredited liberal arts college where all students practice TM and study his philosophy. The campus features gold-colored buildings that face true east in accordance with the principles of Maharishi Architecture, and two large domes, the Maharishi Patanjali Golden Dome of Pure Knowledge for men, and the other one, known on campus simply as the "ladies' dome."
To be a student at Maharishi University, you have to get the lingo right. The evil forces that assault students from all directions other than true east are known as negative influences and not demons. People of the female persuasion are ladies and not women.

I learned about the gender-specific language on my second day as a student at Maharishi University IA in the mid-seventies. A female student asked me to carry her suitcase from the curb to her room. It wasn't a big suitcase, and she seemed perfectly healthy, so I asked if there was a problem. "Maharishi says that ladies have delicate nervous systems," she replied.
He had very distinct standards for males and females in his university. Take attire. If you walk across the Fairfield campus, you'll see men in cream-colored suits with gold ties and women--er, ladies--in shimmering silk saris.
