The aura of a labor in full bloom. She is having waves of contractions every two to three minutes, with breathing that sounds full and deep, musical with intensity at the peak and then, the exhale.... Blowing away, releasing. A moment of quiet and then she's off on another contraction, doing the work that will bring her closer and closer to the moment when you will hear her grunt with a pushing effort at the peak of a contraction. Pushing. A different level of energy entirely. Thankfully, most women prefer this to those contractions that just won't give them a break, for the effort they exert is profound. Each push brings the baby further into the space that will stretch and give to allow for the passage of this little being.
