Mentorship is a valuable learning tool. A quick search of the Internet will result in hundreds of examples of mentorship between students, teachers, and people from industry. The standards listed under The Designed World in Standards for Technological Literacy (ITEA, 2000/2002/2007) (14 through 20) list benchmarks specific to various technological pathways. Mentors can be a valuable source of information about the "real world" described in these benchmarks. Mentors can "tell it like it is" and provide students with insights into an industry. But how do teachers go about seeking mentors for their students when there is no local industry that matches appropriately with the courses being taught? This is the problem we face in the Aerospace courses taught at Kingswood Regional High School in Wolfeboro, NH. Wolfeboro labels itself as the oldest resort in America.
