One afternoon last October in King City, California, acting postal supervisor Lily Rangel was in a shopping center parking lot when she heard a distinct thump. She turned to see a child run over by a large green pickup truck.
Rangel ran toward the truck, which appeared to be fleeing the scene.
"The truck kept going," she told the Salinas Californian. "I screamed, 'Stop him? Stop him?' and I pointed. I think he knew he hit a child. He looked at me and he continued going."
