Last July 31, Loft Laughlin lost consciousness while swimming in the family pool in Murphysboro, Illinois. Doctors would later conclude that she'd had a mild stroke.
Fortunately, Lori's nine-year-old grandson, Shane, and six-year-old granddaughter, Danielle, were also in the pool. Shane held his grandmother's head above the water, while he sent Danielle to find their grandfather.
The children's grandfather, John Laughlin, came running and dragged his unconscious wife from the pool. He administered CPR until she resumed breathing. He said that Shane did not leave his grandmother's side until an ambulance arrived to take her to a local hospital.
