The September 25, 2007 Milwaukee Journal published a story entitled: "Commendation Medal for valor, for a daring rescue on a Baghdad street." The article related the bravery of three members of the Wisconsin National Guard 32nd Military Police Company serving in Baghdad. The heroes included Staff Sgt. Ed Wenzel, a Fond du Lac police officer; Sgt. 1st Class Paul Morrison, an Adams County sheriff's deputy; and Herbert Raasch, another MP whose rank and hometown were not reported.
The trio bravely risked their lives in 2003 by pulling two members of the Iowa National Guard, Robert "B.J." Jackson and Nathan Lienemann, from their burning Humvee, after both units' Humvees came under attack.
