NEW DELHI, March 3 Asia Pulse - Malaysia is going all out to woo Indian motorsport fans for the 10th edition of the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) later this month.
Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board director (International Promotion Division) Azizan Noordin, who is on a roadshow to several Indian cities, said in the last season Indians made up five per cent of the total foreigners in Sepang, who came to watch the world-class event.
"Last year there were about 114,000 spectators and at least 50,000 were foreigners who came to watch the race. Five per cent were Indian motorsport lovers.
"This is a potential area for us. Furthermore this year, their own team "Force India" will be participating in the race, which is already making waves here. We expect the numbers to exceed five per cent this year," he told Bernama after a tourism dialogue with top Indian tourism industry players.
