NEW DELHI, March 3 Asia Pulse - Applications by four companies to launch new regional airlines are being processed by the Civil Aviation Ministry, which has already permitted four others to launch scheduled regional air transport services.
The four airlines that have been granted No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to start regional operations are MDLR Airlines and Jagson Airlines for the northern region, Star Aviation for the southern, and ZAV Airways for the eastern- northeastern region.
"Four applications for new regional airlines are under process," official sources said here.
The regional airline concept was introduced to promote air connectivity within a region and expand air travel to various towns and cities, including those in the hinterland.
