SEOUL, March 3 Asia Pulse - South Korean stocks are unlikely to post serious gains in this week's trading, as they were set "firmly" in the lower 1,700-point level last week, local analysts said Saturday.
After bouncing back to the psychologically important 1,700 level on Monday, the bourse ended the week at 1,711.62 for a gain of 1.5 per cent compared to the end of trading in the previous week.
Experts said the relative stability of the benchmark KOSPI raises the possibility of further gains among investors, but added that uncertainties continue to expose the market to downside risks.
"There are expectations that the market could surpass the 1,800 mark, but overall conditions are not entirely conducive to upward gains at present," said Lee Kyung-soo, an analyst at Daewoo Securities.
