MIAMI BEACH -- Counsel all laparoscopy patients that their procedure could be converted to a laparotomy, Dr. Andrew Sokol said in a poster presented at the annual meeting of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.
The morbidity associated with laparotomy alone is greater than with laparoscopy, and the risk of conversion increases if less experienced surgeons are attempting complicated procedures, said Dr. Sokol of the Cleveland Clinic.
