Dame heads up British Library
Lynne Brindley, chief executive of the British Library since July 2000, has been made a Dame of the British Empire in the New Year Honours for services to education. Brindley said: "I am truly delighted to receive this recognition. It is a great personal honour but also a tribute to my many talented colleagues at the British Library and in the library and information profession. It is particularly pleasing that the citation is for services for education: in a world that is ever more focused on information, expanding access to knowledge is vital to all our futures."

Knovel includes 2,000 reference works and databases from over 40 international publishers and professional societies, indexing all the content including tables and graphs. It can also search for ranges of values, using technical synonyms, and locate information regardless of the units specified. It supports unlimited Boolean searching with wildcard truncation, phrase matching and limit fields, and a fielded advanced search combines keyword searching with numerical range searching in tabular databases.
