We used the Internet to order 10 popular as-seen-on-TV products. Although most arrived within the promised time, our shopper found other problems:
Surprise enrollment. You could be enrolled in a "club" or delivery plan. BareMinerals, which sells makeup, automatically enrolls customers in its Exclusive BareMinerals club, which sends more makeup every 60 days. Smart Spin, a kitchen storage system, offered a gift card--if our shopper subscribed to something called Explore USA, which would eventually cost $16.95 per month.
