Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are both hoping young voters will propel them to the White House.
Obama carried 57% of the under-30 Democratic voters in the Iowa primary and 51% in New Hampshire. Clinton's support in this group went from 11% in Iowa to 28% in New Hampshire, where she benefited from a large increase in support from women in the late 20s.
On January 14, 2008, a Washington Post-ABC News poll showed women were 57% of Democratic voters in both Iowa and New Hampshire. Clinton had an 11% lead among women voters while Obama had a 9% lead among men. Married women chose Clinton over Obama by 53% to 30%.
