Derma-Smoothe/FS (fluocinolone acetonide topical body oil, 0.01%, Hill Dermaceuticals Inc.)
The Food and Drug Administration approved Derma-Smoothe / FS (fluocinolone acetonide) Topical Oil, 0.01% for treatment of moderate to severe atopic dermatitis in patients aged 3 months to 2 years.
* Recommended Dosage: Moisten skin and apply to affected area twice daily for up to 4 weeks. Apply the least amount to cover affected areas, and discontinue when disease is controlled.
* Special Considerations: Cough, rhinorrhea, pyrexia, telangiectasia, nasopharyngitis, and hypopigmentation were the most common adverse reactions reported in an open-label study of 58 children, aged 2-12 years, who applied DermaSmoothe/FS twice daily for 4 weeks.
