You wouldn't know it from the dramatic, tearful pronouncements of doom that emanated from the UN's recently concluded climate summit in Bali. Nor would Al Gore be likely to let on. But the really, really inconvenient truth is that, for six years now there has been no global warming.
According to former long-time BBC science correspondent and editor David Whitehouse, global warming, in contradiction to current theories predicting ever increasing temperatures, has stopped. "The fact is that the global temperature of 2007 is statistically the same as 2006 as well as every year since 2001," Whitehouse noted in an article in New Statesman. "Global warming has, temporarily or permanently, ceased. Temperatures across the world are not increasing as they should according to the fundamental theory behind global warming--the greenhouse effect." In Whitehouse's estimation, "Something else is happening."
