CANBERRA, Feb 1 Asia Pulse - Aviation in the Asia-Pacific region continues to grow at a rapid rate thanks to the expansion of China and India, new figures show.
The passenger sector grew at 7.3 per cent in 2007, the International Air Transport Association said today.
"Growth indicates the continuing strength of the Chinese and Indian economic expansion making air travel accessible to large new markets," the association said.
The freight sector also continues to grow considerably.
"Airlines in Asia-Pacific, which account for 45 per cent of the international total, saw freight demand rise 6.5 per cent in 2007, driven by strong growth in several economies in the region," the association said.
