SYDNEY, Feb 1 Asia Pulse - Sydney Airport has defended its role in a lockout of hundreds of passengers stranded by flight cancellations in the wake of a wild electrical storm last night.
Marooned Jetstar passengers complained they were left on the footpath outside terminal two when officials enforced an 11pm curfew and locked the building.
One woman passengers say she spent the night curled up in a nearby bus shelter.
But Sydney Airport said today commuters were informed they could sleep in a 24-hour waiting room at the international terminal.
The airline and the airport are at loggerheads over the incident.
Jetstar says it was not responsible for the terminal closure and was not required to assist passengers inconvenienced by adverse weather.
