Pelvic issues like abortion, premarital sex and homosexuality are hot topics at Catholic colleges. Out There, a conference dedicated to LGBTQ issues on Catholic campuses, addressed some of these tensions at DePaul University in October. Four women from the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University MN discussed research on conversations about hot topics on campus. They were:
* Dr. Sheila Nelson, associate professor of theology
* Dr. Jean Keller, associate professor of philosophy
* Dr. Kari-Shane Davis Zimmerman, assistant professor of theology
* Patricia Cespedes-Schueller, director and chaplain of CBS campus ministry
Located a few miles apart in central Minnesota, Saint Ben's (women) and Saint John's (men) are paired colleges with separate campuses but one combined academic program. More than 80% of the students come from Minnesota and 70% are Catholic.
