Samuel Anderson was shot on August 27 by a would-be robber, who ran into the night but didn't get away.

Anderson had just arrived at his Memphis, Tennessee, home at 12:23 in the morning when "a stranger ran up behind him and pushed him inside, apparently to rob him," reported the Commercial Appeal. Anderson immediately ran toward his bedroom, the stranger shooting at him as he ran. Though he was wounded several times, Anderson retrieved a pistol and fired one round back at the robber.
