It occurred to me while reading "Restoring Rights" in the November 12 issue that TNA and the far left make strange bedfellows. TNA obviously supports this new piece of legislation, yet unless I am misreading the bill draft, it appears to protect alien combatants as well as treasonous U.S. citizens. American citizens are entitled to due process, but foreign combatants ought to come under the rules of engagement and military law--as the situation now stands prior to any such legislation passing.

Also the president correctly suspended the right of habeas corpus for the war captives: "The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it." If the attack on the World Trade Center and subsequent terrorist attempts are not invasions, then I don't know what they could be called. ...
