His neighbors had not seen 79-year-old Herman Kyselka of Paradise Valley, Oklahoma, for several days, so on the evening of September 26, 12-year-old Austin Hogg decided to check on his older friend, whom he affectionately calls "Grandpa K."
Austin had known Kyselka for most of his young life. "I mow his yard and I help him with pretty much almost anything. He's just like a grandfather to me," Austin told KSWO News (Lawton, Okla.-Wichita Falls, Texas). He generally sees the older gentleman every day. So when neither he nor any other neighbors had seen Kyselka from Monday morning until Wednesday night, Austin knew that something was wrong.
